ROTOLOX-HEATSET

The special web offset heatset process inks
for the Anilox printing process.

The short inking unit method, also called "keyless system" or "Anilox printing" has become an integral part in newspaper printing technology in recent years. Of late, this technology has also been introduced in web offset heatset printing.

The Anilox offset printing method offers a number of advantages but also disadvantages over the conventional procedure using a long inking unit. These include absence of stenciling with no change in roller diameter, short ink changeover times, uniform inking over the entire printing width and during the whole production period, and minimal waste during startup. Because of its design, however, the short inking unit makes considerably higher demands on the printing ink due to the much smaller number of splitting points as compared to a long inking unit. Evaporation of damping solution as well as storage and buffer capacity are clearly restricted. Therefore, the printing ink is subjected to more strain.

ECO-TEMP web offset newspaper inks of the new generation combine superb printability of the inks with excellent quality of the printed product through the "HIGHLY IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY" standard.

Based on our comprehensive experience in Anilox newspaper printing, we have been very successful in developing this new process ink series for web offset heatset printing in combination with our new "HIGHLY IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY" standard. Each of the special formula constituents has been precisely adapted to the individual processing steps in manufacturing. The binders are formulated to ensure optimum pigment wetting by the wetting medium and through precisely monitored dispersing conditions as well as optimum performance in printing by the use of highly sophisticated printing ink resins.
The quality improvements of these new process inks conforming to the HIT-technology become most obvious to the printer in the following respects:

The inks maintain a stable viscosity over a wide temperature range.
Stable emulsification of damping solution ensures uniform ink splitting.
Elastic characteristics of the binder minimize ink misting.
Excellent gloss on the print and optimum color intensity.

Increased demands in respect of fast drying on the most different paper grades can be met. This series is suitable for printing without any isopropanol, in combination with adequate damping solutions and by using spray damping systems. HUBER-GRUPPE’s modern production technologies together with comprehensive standardized production controls (according to DIN EN ISO 9001 etc.) guarantee a constantly good quality of the new ROLLO-THERM HIGH RESISTANT process inks.

Special properties of the ROTOLOX-HEATSET process inks

Plates run clean fast when using suitable damping solutions, through quick and limited absorption of damping solution ensuring a stable ink/damping solution equilibrium.
Excellent rub resistance, also on mat-coated papers, within the usual limits in practical application.
High-contrast printing.
High color intensity and transparency.
Excellent gloss, depending on the substrate.
Good flow characteristics, making these inks highly suitable for automatic ink supply systems, and perfect flowing in the ink circulation.

Application

For web offset presses operating with the short inking unit method – Anilox system heatset.

Printing auxiliaries

If ROTOLOX-HEATSET inks need to be adapted to special printing conditions in exceptional cases, it is advisable to use the sundries supplied by companies of HUBER-GRUPPE which are adapted to the highly sophisticated binder system.
