HYDROFIX^® 8198 Series

Damping solution additive for coldset web offset.

HYDROFIX-XS is intended for use in web offset with alcohol damping units. An addition of 2 percent, as recommended, allows to reduce the isopropanol content to approx. 10 volume percent in alcohol damping systems equipped with chrome rollers, and to approx. 5 volume percent in units equipped with ceramic rollers. Its special properties are:

• Formation of a stable, thin film damping solution due to a specific reduction of surface tension.

• Market reduction of paper build-up on the blanket.

• Formulated to suit the special requirements of ceramic rollers.

• Special ingredients prevent ink roller stripping.

• No pollution of the damping units.

  Despite the good buffer effect of HYDROFIX-XS, two varieties are necessary in order to permit the adjustment of all types of tap water qualities to the range of between pH 5.0 and 5.3 that is most favorable for printing. In case of doubt as to which product should be used, we are offering the service of a free water analysis.

Special characteristics

• 8198 09 for water with a hydrogen carbonate content under 250 mg/lit.

• 8198 19 for water with a hydrogen carbonate content above 250 mg/lit.

• The recommended concentration for use of the HYDROFIX 8198 series is 2%.
