HYDROFIX^® 8185 Series

Damping solution additive for coldset web offset.

HYDROFIX-Z was developed specially for use on modern web offset newspaper printing presses with non-contact damping systems (brush, centrifugal, and spray damping systems). It helps quickly establish stable ink/water balance and contributes to rapid printing plate runoff. Damping solution delivery to the printing plate can be considerably reduced. Its special properties are:

• Formation of a stable, thin film of damping solution due to a specific reduction of surface tension.

• Very fast printing plate runoff.

• Substantially reduces paper buildup residue on the rubber blanket.

• No pollution of the damping units.

• Very good plate protection.

  Despite the good buffer effect, two varieties are necessary in order to permit the adjustment of all types of tap water qualities to the range of between pH 5.0 and 5.3 that is most favorable for printing.

Special characteristics

• 8185 09 for water with a hydrogen carbonate content under 250 mg/lit.

• 8185 19 for water with a hydrogen carbonate content above 250 mg/lit.

• The recommended concentration for use of the HYDROFIX 8185 series is 2%.
